Travel Blog - Visit to Yogyakarta

During this pandemic it reminded me of the most memorable vacation with friends in June 2019, namely the city of Yogyakarta. This is the fourth time I have visited Yogyakarta, a city that is still thick with palace customs and nuances which are very special in my eyes and also many tourists that make me not get bored visiting it.

Yogyakarta has natural cultural tourism, shopping for typical Yogyakarta souvenirs and culinary tours at affordable prices. Yogyakarta gives its own impression, with a charm that can be enjoyed by all walks of life. Starting from the temple architecture which has historical value, beautiful beaches, to shopping centers such as Malioboro which are attractive tourist destinations.

I chose Prawirotaman as a place to stay because it is an area that is often visited by foreign tourists. I traveled around Yogyakarta for 6 days 5 nights by renting a motorbike.

During this vacation I spent a budget of around IDR 2,000,000 including bus tickets (Jakarta-Yogyakarta). Tickets at that time were IDR 400,000 back and forth, motorbike rental IDR 200,000 for 5 days for sharing and accommodation IDR 375,000 per person for 5 days and the rest was for provisions.

During this holiday I visited Kota Gede, an area that has many small alleys with very instagramable old buildings and doors. I walked around the Legi market in Kota Gede eating herbs and traditional snacks such as kipo, legomoro and yangko. Visit the Mataram Gedhe Mosque, the Mataram King's Tomb, the Warung Boto site, which at a glance the architecture of this historic building is almost similar to Taman Sari Yogyakarta or Taman Sari Keraton Yogyakarta.

I also had time to visit Tugu Jogja, Malioboro, Bringharjo Market, South Square, Yogyakarta Palace, Taman Sari and Ratu Boko Temple. Towards Ratu Boko Temple was a bit far from where I was staying which was about 1 hour because I was curious to know one of the locations that Cinta and Rangga visited in the film AADC 2, it all paid off even though the place to get there was far away. The sunset view is really good and crowded with tourists.

Apart from trying Kota Gede's typical snacks, I also tasted various culinary delights in Yogyakarta, namely Cilok Gajah, Tempo Gelato Prawirotaman, Gudeg Yu Djum, Bu Tini's Fried Chicken, Bu Made's Geprek Chicken and Iconic Gelato & Bistro. Before going home, I visited the Raminten Cabaret Show which is one of the places to eat in Yogyakarta, precisely on the 3rd floor of Hamzah Batik. After buying some batik for souvenirs at Hamzah Batik, this show is one of the places that must be visited when visiting Yogyakarta. The Raminten Cabaret Show presents world-class entertainment which is very entertaining and manages to make me laugh out loud. I really enjoyed this vacation for 6 days around the city of Yogyakarta. Hope I can go there again.
